Scout Survival Training
The Wilderness Survival Merit Badge is one of the most coveted of Scout Merit Badges. Our Scout Survival Course teaches all the essential skills you’ll need to earn this badge, plus a lot more. The two day course is a hands-on course that ends
with a written test. Hank is a registered Boy Scout Merit Badge Counselor # 124396389 and a member of the South Florida Council. Our course is designed to meet and exceed all of the Scout training requirements. Our training site is on private property so we are not restricted or handicapped by strict rules for cutting wood, collecting plants or building shelters like those found in most State Parks.
All Leaders participate free of charge and our group rates
make it very affordable for even smaller groups.

Youth Groups / Summer Camps

We offer a unique opportunity for kids and young adults to experience the wonder and joy of curiosity, discovery and new knowledge in regards to nature in general and skills that our ancestors practiced.
Our classes are a great opportunity to get outside and appreciate the beauty and mysteries of nature. Kids will learn how to camp, survive in the wild, and work as a team to make shelters, fires and provide for themselves.
We have developed a format and a philosophy for training that promotes individual achievement and skill development, while instilling a joy and reverence for our wilderness surroundings.
Each class is tailored made to fit the needs, skill levels and/or time constraints that any particular group may require. We can come to your location or make arrangements for the class to be held at out private location. As always, all group Leaders participate free of charge. We have a limited amount of camping equipment we’ll be happy to loan.
We offer group discounts and can give you a flat rate for larger groups to lessen the cost per student.

Adventure and Social Groups

For adventure minded groups we can tailor make a survival training course to blend with and compliment your favorite activities. Our courses work especially well with hiking and kayaking trips. Some ideas that have proved popular with other groups is a combination of camping, training and hiking/kayaking Typically the group sets up a base camp for the weekend where we hold the lecture part of the training. After the morning lectures we hike and/ or kayak while practicing hands-on skills like: map and compass navigation, navigation by the sun, lost proofing, edible plants, emergency shelters, water procurement and purification, primitive tools, trail marking, tracking, fire preparation etc. Back at camp we'll continue with lectures and practice other essential skills like building fires using fire steels, flint and steel, bow drills and building simple shelters out of natural materials.
Like our other groups we offer group discounts and can give you a flat rate for larger groups to lessen the cost per student.
